Presenting the Waterside Singers who rehearse at the Park Centre.
The Waterside Singers are the resident choir of The Park Area Community Centre. Starting off as a group of would be singers who thought they couldnt sing, with the help of a lottery grant funding the “Cant Sing? Neither Can We !” project back in March 2010, we can certainly say that the money was put to good use as we performed all around the Town, for many community events, including our first ever public performance which was also our first ever outdoor performance for the Town Bridge on its 80th Birthday.
We dont restrict ourselves to any style or genre of music, we’ve done anything and everything, from Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” with an orchestra, singing in Latin, French, English folk songs, classic easy listening tunes, the obligatory Abba, Rod Stewart, to singing at various community centres and elderly persons homes, We have sung outdoors and inside, sometimes it seems as if nowhere is too small, too large or too full for us to turn up and do our set.
Apart from working on the annual Xmas show, we also limbered up our vocal muscles for the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee Street Party, and if that doesn’t entice you to come along and join in with us, I don’t know what else would.
Our choir “uniform” is any shade of blue/water colour on the top, and anything dark on the bottom, we want to be comfortable and relaxed when we sing, so you wear what suits you.
Come along to our rehearsals, on Monday afternoons at 2.00pm, We have a small charge of £2.50 which covers expenses such as cd’s, music, photocopying and tuition.
We are a varied group, although we can always do with a few more male singers, we don’t care what part you sing, our ages have ranged from mid teens to mid 80’s, so really there is no excuse not to turn up and have a go. We don’t expect you to pay the first time you turn up, only if you decide you want to continue with us. We are now singing under the guidance of our brand new and sparkly choir leader Anna Eveleigh. There is a slight change to the times (2.15pm), which includes a 15 minute warm up followed by a whole hour of singing.
If you want to book us please leave a message for us at the Community Centre 01305 839579, or email us at the Community Centre, firstname.lastname@example.org
